The Guadeloupe Regional Council has built the MEMORIAL ACTE, a Caribbean Centre on the Expression and Memory of Slavery & the Slave Trade in Pointe à Pitre, in the former Darboussier factory.The history of slavery and the slave trade will be explained using archived documents, images, artefacts, everyday objects plus visual and audio testimonials.

Gwoka was born in a dark period of the Guadeloupe history . It is not only a music but everything that revolves around it : the dance, games , jokes , a certain way of being, in a word, a whole way of life that comes from our African ancestors. Further down the street, A statue of Marcel Lollia called "Vélo" playing the Ka was erected in his honor. When Marcel Lollia died June 5, 1984. His death marks its entry into the History of Guadeloupe, as it becomes a reference in the Gwo Ka music.

La Place de La Victoire was named Grand-Place, Place Sartine then became in 1974 " La place de la Victoire" for the celebration of the first slavery abolition in Guadeloupe
La Mulâtresse Solitude (1772 - 1802) is a historical figure of the resistance to slavery in Guadeloupe. Heroin and emblematic figure of Maroons. On 29 November 1802 at the age of only thirty years, Solitude was executed, her last words were "Live free or die! " The people of Guadeloupe, grateful, shows honor and respect to her memory.The statue is erected at the " carrefour de la Croix", on " le boulevard des Héros" in Les Abymes city
